Chief’s Challenge Progress

After recently launching the Chief’s Challenge I was delighted to learn that it has been enthusiastically received by “Chiefs” across a whole range of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector. This is an event that I am really looking forward to, particularly as it furnishes me with an opportunity at the beginning of the games, to bring to Liverpool colleagues from around the UK.

All competitors will have the opportunity to take on the challenges of the course on foot or by whatever means they see fit. Indeed Bernard Hogan Howe (Chief Constable Merseyside Police) has indicated he will tackle the challenges of the course with the assistance of his able steed. I have told Bernard that the horse will also be liable to raise its share of sponsorship. But by way of a concession the horse will be allowed to nominate a benefitting equine charity.

My only concern is that the horse may struggle with the online registration process. However this will be a further indication of the supremacy of the Fire Service as we already have 15 registrations for the Iron Dog competition. Once again this is further proof, if any were needed, of the higher caliber of animals working for the UK Fire Service.
